A minutes silence was observed at all SKB games today and will be again tomorrow as a mark of respect for Lar Madden.
Everyone associated with St Kevins Boys Club were saddened to hear this morning of the passing of Lar Madden.
Lar was a life long member of St Kevins Boys Club and was well known and respected throughout the world of schoolboy and junior football in this country.
Lar served the Club firstly as a talented player and then later as a manager of SKB teams of all ages and grades - from the first team to the lowest graded schoolboy team his committment was total and un-waivering in helping players enjoy their football and provide all those players with great memories of their time with him. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Club for many years as well as sitting on various sub committees and was for many years a stalwart of St Kevins Boys annual camp.
He will be sadly missed for his loyalty to the Club which saw him seldom if ever miss games firstly in Ellenfield then Collinstown, the AUL and more recently Shanowen Road where he enjoyed both the games and the banter for which he was renowned.
His sister Mary and brother Fran and family will bear the brunt of his passing but there is not a member of SKB past and present who will not feel sadness at the passing of one of the Clubs truly great characters.
