Our Under 15 DDSL Elite team got their hands on the SFAI Skechers Evans Cup following their 2-1 win against Athlone Town at Jackson Park this afternoon.
In a fairly disjointed performance they just about done enough to win.
Ray O'Sullivan headed the opener from a free kick after 18 minutes and with the majority of possession they looked like they would go on and win well but Athlone were level by the 26th with a similar goal from a free kick. Despite again having all the possession in the second half and having one effort cleared off the line the scoreboard remained at 1-1 entering the final minute of of the game when Cameron Ledwidge broke from the back with the ball eventually finding Ryan Cassidy in space in the penalty area and he finished calmly into the bottom corner to leave no way back for Athlone.
Ciaran Murray's Under 17 Premier team just failed to make it a possible treble of titles this season when having won the DDSL Nicholi Shuster Cup with two Levi Boardman goals last weekend over Enniskerry they went down 3-2 to Arklow United in the final of the DDSL Taaffe Cup in Abottstown.
1 down early on they recovered to lead 2-1 with Levi Boardman again the main man with both goals but Arklow came back with two quick goals in the second half to win it.
With four games to go in the League they are well placed to make it a double.
