A mixed weekend of results in the senior section this week with the Saturday team qualifying for the final of the AUL Paddy Cole Cup following their hard fought 2-1 semi-final win over Balscadden FC at the AUL Complex with the goals coming from Carl O'Hanlon and Stephen Cantwell. They will be hoping for another trophy in the final against either Butterkrust United or Usher Celtic to add to last years win in the AUL Myles O'Neill Cup.
Not so fortunate were the first team who were knocked out of the AUL Nivea Cup by Sheriff YC on a 1-2 scoreline. Sheriff took the lead on two minutes but Karl Young quickly equalised in a close first half and the crossbar prevented them from going ahead before Sheriff got a second to lead 2-1 at half time. It remained that way to the end but the outcome might have been different had Stephen Cantwell converted a penalty ten minutes from time when Eden Burke was taken down in the box but Lee Murphy guessed the right way and the chance was gone.
SKB Premier A 1 v East Wall Bessborough 2
The old saying of having to take your chances was certainly illustrated this afternoon when our first team missed several chances both before and after a second half Stephen Cantwell goal put them ahead against East Wall Bessborough in their AUL Premier A League tie at Shanowen Road thus allowing East Wall a way back into the game with two goals in the last eight minutes - their only two chances in the second half - and win a game they certainly did'nt look like winning at any stage before that.
