A 6-0 win over Quay Celtic in Dundalk this morning by our Under 14 NDSL Premier side ensures we are represented in the open draw for the last 32 of the SFAI Goodson Cup. Goals from Ope Abriu (2), Colin Elemide, Reuben Marques(2) and Toba Obiayto in difficult conditions were enough in a one sided contest.
Our Under 13 DDSL Premier side displayed great resiliance in refusing to accept defeat when qualifying for the last 32 of the SFAI Under 13 Sketchers Cup at Shanowen Road this morning in a game played atrocious conditions. Both teams deserve great credit for producing a thriller that would have been more deserving of a later round setting rather than Round 4.
SKB dominated the opening twenty minutes at which stage they were one up following good work down the right by Chris Kenny and Gavin O'Brien whose fine low cross was finished at the far post by Kordea Odumosu. Cherry Orchard came more into the game after that and forced two corners - the second of which wasn't defended properly - so the sides were level at the break.
Cherry Orchard took the lead in the first minute of the second half when a speculative strike from thirty yards deceived home goalkeeper Mark Smith and landed in the net. For the next twenty minutes the game became scrappy which was in part due to the conditions but gradually the home side came back into it and had claims for what looked like a stonewall penalty waved away when Ruari Kinsella was taken down when bearing down on goal. Ruari was to have the last say though when in the 30th minute of the half he finished brilliantly to take the game to extra time.
Chances were few and far between in extra time but home 'keeper Mark Smith had to be alert to deal with a one on one situation before in the very last minute Kordea Odumosu got his second and the winner with a clinical finish which ended a game in which both teams deserved great credit.
Our 15 NDSL Premier team came away from Oriel Park today with a place booked in the last 32 of the SFAI Evans Cup following an excellent 2-1 win over Glenmuir United
The Under 12 SFAI Sketchers Cup against Belvedere postponed yesterday will be replayed next Saturday December 5th at 10-30am.
