The three ex SKB players who did not start in last Saturdays 4-0 over the Czech Republic - Corey Chambers, Conor Kane and Liam Brady - were in the line-up today along with skipper Daragh Leahy as the two teams met again in Whitehall.
Corey Chambers proved his class with a string of important saves while Liam Brady was Ireland's goalscorer from a penalty as the Czechs recorded a 3-1 win in wet and windy conditions.
Five ex SKB players were in the Ireland Under 18 starting eleven - Luke Wade Slater, Darragh Leahy, Jamie Gray, Daniel Mandriou and Trevor Clarke - in a comfortable 4-0 win over the Czech Republic at Whitehall.
Dan Mandriou scored the only goal of the first half when he slotted home a shot cum cross from Trevor Clarke, three more were added in the second half - two excellent left foot strikes from Stephen Kinsella and an injury time header from Ger McDonagh.
Seven former SKB players were included in the Ireland Under 18 squad named today for two friendly games against the Czech Republic at Home Farm FC Whitehall on Saturday 28th next 2pm and Monday 30th next at 12noon and an eight was a late call up as Corey Chambers from Bray Wanderers has been included also.
It is good to see that Daniel Mandriou is rewarded for his excellent performances with Brighton over the past two years with a call up and hopefully he and the other boys will get a chance to prove themselves at this level and show what good players they are.
Club coaches Elliott Morgan, Keith Roche, Joe Byrne and not forgeting Gerry O'Neill and Albert Crowley deserve great credit for helping develop these boys through the years.
Manager Paul Doolin says "This age group with some of these players reached the UEFA U17 Finals last May in Bulgaria. The Czechs have a fixture every month for a year or at least training camps. They are a very good side. We've played them several times and always get good games. These fixtures gives us a chance to see what's coming through. There's a mixture of home-based players with players from abroad. There are some good players in this group"
