OLDER POSTS
Our first team faceed a tough challange last night when they played Premier A rivals East Wall Bessborough in the 3rd round of the FAI Junior Cup at the all weather complex in Clontarf and a difficult task was made all the harder when they fell behind after only three minutes when Ger Carroll scored the goal that was proved to be decisive in the end.
East Wall took that chance but SKB missed a number of chances throughout the game including substitute Jordan Cromwell’s rocket header which crashed against the crossbar in the final seconds of the game.
The first Kevin’s chance came from a free kick on the edge of Eastwallbessborough’s penalty area, Karl Young laid off a ball for Peter Keegan to hit what seemed like an unstoppable strike towards the top right hand corner only for Paul Lynch to somehow divert it out for a corner with an fine save and he made an equally fine save just on half time when a one-on-one opportunity was created as Brian Conway pulled a pass back across the box which fell to Keegan whose strike seemed destined for the net until Lynch intervened
The final chance arrived at the death when the the ball was whipped in from a corner and met by Cromwell’s header which hit the crossbar and bounced down on to the line only to be cleared away to the sound of the referee’s full time whistle.
East Wall were the better team and they had that bit of luck that you need in the Junior Cup. SKB however will be left ruing a number of missed chances and will be disappointed not to be in the hat for the fourth round draw.
