Dave McKay played all of his schoolboy football for SKB.
He was part of an excellent team that contained players such as Ronan Finn, Karl Moore, Peter O'Reilly, Chris Sheridan, Gary Reid among others.
He was part of the first SKB Academy team that took part in the game that celebrated the opening of the pitch at Shanowen Road in 2002 and that competed with distinction in the Foyle Cup at that time. This team lit the spark that was to ignite the great surge of success that the club has enjoyed over the past decade.
Dave further enhanced his career following his departure from SKB when he gained sports science qualifacations here in Dublin before embarking on a University scholorship in America which has led to top positions at MLS clubs Kansas City and now as Head of Fitness and Sports Science at Orlando City where top Brazilian player Kaka is among the players under his control.
Following the birth of Dave's second son Ronan a few months ago it was discovered that the baby has serious heart defects that will require ongoing surgery over the next couple of months and hopefully lead to a full and active life for the boy.
