Our 17 Super team defeated Lucan United (18's) 5-1 in the semi-final of the Leinster Youth Cup last Sunday morning in Celbridge to qualify for the final on Saturday June 20th at 2pm against Freebooters from Kilkenny which will be played in Mullraney Park Castledermot.
Despite a slow and sluggish opening twenty minutes SKB gradually got on top in the second quarter of their Quarter Final of the Leinster Youth Cup against Wexford Youths and were full value for the 2-0 lead they enjoyed at half time courtesy of two excellent worked moves that Jamie Gray finished clinically. When Liam Brady scored with a crisp low left footed drive ten minutes into the second half they looked home and dry but the needless concession of a penalty which was converted gave the home side hope and when they added a second soon after the game suddenly changed from a routine win to a tough battle over the last twenty minutes. Despite the pressure exerted by the home side it was us who had the two best chances to put the game away but in the end we came away with a win which was deserved but harder earned than it should have been.
