Our Senior Saturday team ended their season in great style tonight when they added the AUL Myles O'Neill Cup to their Senior Saturday League runners-up position with an emphatic 5-1 win over Kilbarrack United at the AUL Complex and in doing so ended a really successful week for the Club in League and Cup competitions at Senior and Schoolboy level.
Although going behind early in the first half they soon equalised through Josh Peyton and they were ahead 2-1 at half time through Karl O'Hanlon and he added his second within minutes of the re-start with a fine low drive from the edge of the box to put them in a strong position. Leading goalscorer Keith Rooney scored the fourth when he finished off an excellent move and Ciaran Nolan put the issue beyond doubt with a left footed strike twenty minutes from time. They played some excellent football throughout and were fully deserving of the win which brings some long overdue AUL silverware to the club as the Myles O'Neill Cup arrives for the first time.
Well done to managers Vinny McCarthy and Andy McKenna and all the squad.
