It was 3-2 at the end of an absorbing Paul McGrath DDSL Cup semi final tussle between our 16 DDSL Premier side and arch rivals Cherry Orchard tonight at Shanowen Road.
The game was decided in injury time when Mikey Cregan showed coolness in the box to slam home the winner minutes after Cherry Orchard had brought the game level at 2-2 and extra time looked a distinct possibility.
The game was exciting from start to finish with some good goals, great saves and all round endeavour by both sides. Cherry Orchard took the lead in the first half but Evan Pierce quickly restored parity slotting home after Thomas Byrnes free kick was only parried away, Byrne himself smashed home what looked to be the winner ten minutes from time but relentless pressure from Cherry Orchard brought an equaliser as the clock ticked away but Mikey Cregan's goal straight after proved a winner in what was a very good game.
Both sides meet again in the League at Shanowen next Tuesday in what should be another memorable encounter.
