After all the excitment of last weeks Academy Cup Tournament it was back to normal this weekend with our teams seeking to advance in DDSL and AUL Cups and to gain points in their quest for League honours in a few weeks time.
Top billing goes to our 14 Premiert DDSL team who travelled to - an unbeaten in all competitions this season - Cherry Orchard in the semi-final of the DDSL Thunder Cup and came away with a superb win after an excellent and exciting game. It was scoreless at the end of normal time. Cherry Orchard took the lead in extra time but Daniel Madaghjian brought the game to penalties when he equalised with two minutes to go. All five SKB penalties were put away superbly and with Kian Clarke proving his class with a brilliant save it was enough to clinch a final spot next month.
Captain Scott Pierce scored the first goal from a penalty in our Under 13 Major teams 3-0 DDSL Flood Cup semi-final win over Castleknock Celtic at Shanowen Road. Dwayne McCourt added a second before half time before John Johnston got a third in the final minutes.
St Malachys proved a tough nut to crack for our Under 12 DDSL Premier team in the DDSL Kavanagh Cup before Ronan Kilkenny secured the breakthrough ten minutes into the second half, he added a second soon after before late goals from Ryan Thornton, Eoghan Heavey and Cian McCracken gave them a 5-0 win.
Our AUL Senior Saturday team overturned a 1-2 deficit from the first leg of their AUL Myles O'Neill Cup tie against Buttercrust United winning 4-2 at the AUL Complex today to reach the semi-final on a 5-3 aggragate win.
A 3-1 win in Ballyouster keeps our 12A Saturday team on course for League honours as does a 5-0 win in Kilnamanagh for our Under 15 Premier team and a similar scoreline saw our 11A Saturday win against Lourdes Celtic.
There were League wins also for the 12 Major (2-0) at Mount Merrion and the 10A Saturday (3-2) at St Francis.
