What a pity one of these teams had to go out of the national cup - especially on penalties - when most of the large crowd present would have liked to see both teams go at it again in a replay, but rules are rules and a winner had to be found on the night.
Both teams pushed each other to the limit in an absorbing contest that was a credit to both sets of players and their management teams.
The Saturday side took an early lead with a goal from Ben Iwegbu but the Sunday side levelled through Aleks Transdafirs. The Saturday side went ahead again in the second half with Miracle Igweze scoring before Myles Kahinde equalised to make it 2-2 at the end of normal time.
No more goals in extra time but each side had chances with both goalkeepers keeping their side in the game with important saves.
Penalties decided it eventually - 4-3 to the Saturday team - with Ben Bergin, Miracle Igweze, Ben Iwegbu and Harry Giffney scoring.
A great game of football, good enough to grace any cup tie with no quarter asked or given - the way the should be played - and credit to both teams for the effort they put into it.
The club is pround of all of you.
