Congratulations to Katlego Mashigo on his full international call up for South Africa and all at SKB wish him and South Africa well in the tournament.
He has been named in South Africa’s senior men’s final squad of 23 for the COSAFA tournament which takes place from 27 June 2022 to 17 July 2022 in Durban, South Africa.
The COSAFA Cup or COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup is an annual tournament for teams from Southern Africa organized by Council of Southern Africa Football Associations, inaugurated after the ban against the Republic of South Africa had been lifted and the African Cup of Nations had been staged there in 1996 – South Africa are the current holders of the cup after a 5-4 victory on penalties against Senegal following a 0-0 draw in the 2021 final in Nelson Mandela Bay.
South Africa will begin their defence of the competition by playing Mozambique on 13 July at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, a suburb of Durban, South Africa.
Katlego, (21), joined St Kevins as a 13 year old and played for the club for four seasons before leaving us to join Fleetwood Town in the English Football League and his travels since has seen him play for Bohemians, Athlone Town, Waterford FC and his current club Portadown in the Northern Ireland Premiership.
