Having progressed into the last four of the DDSL Fitzgerald Cup last week when they defeated Mount Merrion FC 4-0 - who play a division higher than them in the league - our under 11A1 side took another A scalp this morning when they reached next weeks final by beating St Mochtas on penalties in Ellenfield after a thrilling 3-3 draw after extra time played in glorious conditions compared to last weeks downpour.
Having started the season last August in the B division and gained promotion to the A1 section in the mid-season regrading process this group of players are a group that refuse to give up on themselves and support each other at all times.
They took the lead in the 1st half in an end to end game through Romeo Wusu but almost immediately St Mochtas equalized to leave it 1-1 half time. They regained the lead from the peno spot in the second half with Alfie Noonan scoring from the spot kick but Mochtas again fought back and got a deserved equaliser.
At this stage some great saves by Arthur Conway kept them in it and it ended 2-2 at full time,
A frantic extra time saw Mochtas take the lead but again they refused to give up and got level through a brilliant free kick from Alfie Noonan which brought the game to penalty kicks.
Romeo Wasu, Zach Hawkins and Noah Conway all scored from the spot and an excellent penalty save from Arthur Conway saw them through to the final next week in the AUL Complex.
Well done to all the squad and the management team of Paul Noonan, James McGrath and Shane O'Byrne.

The game was played in a continous downpour but credit to both teams for the display they put on.
SKB's goalscorers were Alfie Noonan, Max Noonan and Max O'Reilly who scored 2.
Mount Merrion would have been a lot closer but for SKB goalkeeper Arthur Conway who was in inspired form making a series of important saves throughout the game.
