Belvedere, Greystones, Home Farm, Howth Celtic, St Mochta's, Park Celtic along with two SKB teams - 2010's 12 major and 2011's 11A - were the eight teams that lined up this morrning in glorious sunshine for the inaugural SKB Easter Blitz tournament played at two of our venues St Aidans and Shanowen Road.
All of the preliminary games in the two groups were played at St Aidans in front of a large crowd starting at 9.30am and the schedule ran like clockwork producing four teams from the eight to contest the two finals at Shanowen Road.
Belvedere and Home Farm qualified for the shield final in which Belvedere won by the narrowest of margins 1-0.
The cup final saw the two SKB teams pitted against one another - both needing extra time in their semi-finals to make it through to the final.
In a tight game similar to the shield final only one goal decided it and that came in extra time with the 2010's edging it.
Great credit is due to all the players, managers, referees, and parents who combined to make it a day to remember with some excellent games, great goals and excellent sportmanship on display.
To Darren Dunne, Paul O'Brien, Ciaran Burke we extend our thanks for a competition excellently run and also to Mick Fox, Luke Doyle and all the other organisers and volunteers who gave of their time to ensure the success of the tournament. thanks also to club PRO Neil Fox for the extensive amount of photos taken - the full range of which can be seen on the SKB facebook page.
