What another great weekend it's been for SKB with all of our four remaining teams in this seasons SFAI Cups winning their quarter finals games.
Donie Bermingham and John Fullam's Under 15's played host to Knocknacarra from Galway in Shanowen Road and became the first SKB team to reach a national cup semi-final this year when they pulled away in the latter stages to record a 4-1 win.
They were 2 nil up early in the game and also guilty of some missed chances to make it more before Knocknacarra puled one back before half time to make it anybodys game but two goals in the last twenty minutes put the issue beyond doubt. SKB scorers were KevSajin (2) Eoghan Ryan and Oskar Skoubo Keely. They are home to Salthill-Devon in the semi-final April 23rd in Shanowen Road at 3pm - TBC
Our DDSL Under 14 Inter squad took to the road to Limerick to play Corbally United at Atlunkard and also advanced to the semi final on a comfortable 7-0 scoreline with striker Sam Rooney in scintillating form bagging 5 goals with Marcel Schabowski and Luke Chukwu getting the other goals. A home tie against first time sem-finalists Holycross AFC from Limerick awaits on April 23rd at Shanowen Road at 1pm - TBC
Tramore AFC in Waterford put it up to our Under 16 Premier team in their quarter final with nothing between the sides throughout the game and it was no surprise to see it go to extra time. Indeed it looked like the deadlock wouldn't be broken until Evan Christie scored in the final minute of extra time but the award of a hotly disputed penalty in injury time brought the game to penalties.
SKB scored all their initial five spot kicks through Karl Hearns, Logan O'Connell, Adetunji Olusanya, Jack McDermott and Aaron Coyle before the home side missed their fifth and ensuring that Greg Victory, Ciaran Burke, Terry Concannon and the players can look forward to a semi-final date away to Carrigaline in late April.
Our Under 12 DDSL Inter team played host to Castlebar Celtic in Shanowen Road and they were forced to dig deep in what was their sternest test to date before advancing to the semi-final - and an away meeting with St Josephs Boys - courtesy of a Zack Holmes goal just before half-time. They might have added to their total but for an inspired performance by the Castlebar Celtic goalkeeper Shane Rogers who was in great form throughout.
To cap a fine weekend of cup wins our senior team overcame Dublin Bus on Friday night to reach the last 8 of the Leinster Senior League Lummey O'Reilly Cup,
Congratulations to all of our teams - players, managers and coaches for all the hard work that goes into successful weekends such as this.
