After a long tough year our under 15 SKB-BOHS team play their last game of the season this coming Sunday afternoon - and what a game it promises to be - a national league final against Shamrock Rovers at 4-30pm in Lisseywollen home of Athlone Town FC.
Both teams had away semi-final games and both were forced to dig deep against more fancied opponents.
SKB-BOHS coming from behind to equalise as the clock ticked into injury time against St Patricks Athletic before coming through in a penalty shoot-out 5-3 after extra time failed to produce a winner while Shamrock Rovers also had to go to extra-time to see off Finn Harps 2-0. Both teams have some niggling injuries to contend with in the run-up to Sunday but one player definitely missing is SKB-BOHS Nickson Okoson who serves a one game suspension following a harsh red card in the semi-final.
SKB-BOHS Under 15's produced a tremendous performance - full of character and no little skill - this morning in TUI Blanchardstown to see off a fancied St Patricks Athletic side and qualify for next Sundays national final against Shamrock Rovers at Lissywollen, Athlone at 5pm.
Clear cut chances were few and far between all through the game especially in the first half with both defences dealing comfortably with any danger.
Pat's took the lead 12 minutes into the second half when they seized on a loose ball just inside the SKB-BOHS half and attacked in numbers with Jamie Gamble having no chance with the strike into the bottom corner. Pat's increased the pressure and Gamble showed his worth when he was called on three times in a short period to keep it at 0-1,
A disputed red card for Nickson Okosun looked to have swayed the game very much in favour of Pat's but the lads resfused to wilt and took the game to Pat's in the final quarter and were rewarded in the third minute of injury time when Ben Sullivan scored with an unstoppable drive into the top corner. They came under huge pressure in extra time but saw out the remainder of the game relatively comfortably with everyone giving their all to bring the game to penalties.
Ryan Markey-Colgan, Leon Keogh, Danny McGrath, Scott Lynch all struck their efforts home confidently and when St Pat's fourth effort hit the crossbar Nathan Harford stepped up and put his away and his team into the final.
Quite a turnaround in the result this time as the group game between these two teams a fortnight ago ended in a comfortable 2-0 for St.Pats.
Congratulations and well done to all the players and squad.
