SKB would like to give you an update on what we are doing to facilitate a safe return to training which is in line with FAI Covid-19 guidance which was issued earlier this week.
As you are aware SKB have appointed Michael Fox as our designated Compliance Officer and he is working alongside an established Covid-19 Committee which includes Club Coach Alan Caffrey and SSG Coach Karl Lambe to ensure everything is in place for a resumption of training as soon as possible bearing in mind that the health and safety of everyone involved is paramount.
The HSE / FAI have issued guidelines and details which sets out the challenges involved in advance of a resumption. Risk assessments have had to be carried out on all our venues and facilities. With restrictions currently in place we do not have for the foreseeable future the use of St Aidans, our Club hall or all weather and Ellenfield Park so the only training venue available to us is Ward Cross.
As the current HSE/FAI guidelines states that non contact training can resume with groups of 15 (13 players 2 coaches) in a space requirement of 70 x 50 metres this presents a challenge in itself as it will mean that for now we will have to operate training in a very different manner than before as space will be severely limited.
We are putting plans in place for a resumption of training that will involve players being dropped off and collected from Ward Cross as due to protocols in place parents will not be allowed to attend. We will also be notifying all managers, coaches and players on Covid-19 avoidance policies and protocols including sanitising arrangements and the compilation of attendance records - we also have to ensure that all of our managers, coaches, players and parents are educated on all these measures as they are mandatory and we would be failing in our duty as a Club if we did not adhere to all safety guidelines.
We hope to get back to training on a phased basis in the near future with one team training per night which will be monitored and the protocols and arrangements that will be in place will be constantly reviewed and adjusted where necessary.
We do not envisage a full return to training for all of our teams for a number of weeks yet due to the sheer numbers involved but clarity on when Leagues might resume and perhaps a further easing of restrictions in relation to our other training venues will be helpful in how we proceed in the weeks and months ahead.
Meetings with managers and coaches will continue as we plan a safe return and we would ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to work our way through this unknown territory that we find ourselves in.
