A second half goal from Jack Allen was enough to give our Under 14 Premier team a 1-0 win this afternoon in the last eight SFAI Sketchers Goodson Cup tie against Leixlip United in Leixlip. The team produced a tough battling performance in windy conditions to overcome a fancied Leixlip United side and advance to a semi-final meeting with Cavan Shamrocks.
In todays other quarter-final tie our Under 12's made the long journey to Westport United - who had overcome Crumlin United in the previous round - and came away with a well earned 4-1 win. They got off to an excellent start going 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes and after that the result was never in any serious doubt. The goalscorers in a good all round team performance were Marcel Schabowski, Sam Rooney, Christian Coyle and Max Ferguson. They are on the road again in the semi-final travelling to Cork to take on Middleton AFC.
We still have two more quarter-finals to play in the coming weeks.
Next Saturday at Shanowen Road our Under 13 Premier side play Mervue United while the following week our Under 15 Premier 1 team travel to Dundalk to play Glenmuir FC.
