15's ARE PREMIER CUP CHAMPIONS
In a game that certainly matched the occasion our Under 15 Premier 1 team were crowned DDSL champions after an absorbing tie against St Francis FC which produced great skill and commitment by both sides, 9 goals and plenty of drama and excitement for the large crowd at Richmond Road this afternoon.
Josh Dunne put SKB ahead slightly against the run of play in the first half but Francis were level within a minute and went ahead early in the second half before a superb strike from a free kick by captain Adam Lynch had the sides level. Jakub Basinski put SKB ahead 3.2 and when a penalty was awarded in the final minute it looked that the issue would be decided beyond doubt but the penalty was saved and the rebound put over the bar and from the resulting goal kick Francis broke and scored the equaliser with the last kick of the game.
Jakub Basinski scored a fine solo goal ro restore the lead in extra time and soon after josh Dunne crossed for aaron Hughes to apply the finishing touch - 5.3 - surely that would be that but Francis pulled one back in the final minute from a penalty to leave it 5.4 at the end.
Great credit to both teams for a great game in very warm conditions.
So a second Premier cup in a week is secured great thanks is due to the whole squad and managers Mark Tierney, Gerry Reddy and Peter O'Donnell.
