It was National cup week again this week in the schoolboy section with our teams playing both home and away.
The 14 premier team home against Shannon Town was deferred to Saturday week March 2nd at 3.15pm.
Our Under 15's who made the journey to Dooradoyle in Limerick to play Regional United in the SFAI Sketchers Evans Cup were forced to pull out all the stops against a resilient home side who refused to be beaten and who came from 3-1 down to force extra time and had Fiachra Pagel not saved a second half penalty we would have exited the tournament. As it was extra time did'nt produce a goal and five well taken penalties from Cian Kelly, Sean Grehan, James McManus, Jamie Murphy and Evan Ferguson along with another Fiachra Pagel save saw them advance to the last eight.
The Under 12's who beat Bellurgan 6-0 away in the last round of the SFAI Sketchers Norton Cup were on the road again this time to Carrigaline United and their excellent facilities at Ballyea Park. On top from the start the result was never in doubt and a 5-0 win saw them also reach the last eight.
Other important cup ties on the horizon are the above mentioned 14's SFAI Cup game v Shannon Town while the 17's are away the same weekend to Maree-Oranmore in the FAI Under 17 Cup quarter-final, the 17's are also still involved in the Leinster Youths Cup where they face an away tie to either Parkvilla or North End.
