There was contrasting fortune this weekend for our 15's and 17's Airtricity teams who were involved in vital games as the business end of the season comes into view.
The 17's were home to Galway United in the quarter-final of the national league and were left to rue a series of missed chances - especially in the first half - as Galway pulled the game back in the last minute of normal time to force extra time and then repeat the feat in the last minute of extra time to force penalties in which they prevailed 3-1.
Limerick FC were the opposition to the 15's at Shanowen Road in their last second series group game where a win would guarantee top spot in the group or a draw to finish second. They looked to be well on the way after Gavin O'Brien headed the opener after two minutes and Opi Olowabi added a second soon after but they failed to add to that for the rest of a generally scrappy game in which Limerick came into it in the second half having been awarded a dubious looking penalty in the third minute of the half. That finished the scoring and they now meet Bray Wanderers at home in the semi-final on October 21st.
Bohs 19's needed extra time to overcome Waterford United in their quarter final league tie with goals from Christian Magerusan, Jamie Hamilton, Ali Reghba and McMillan.
