Our DDSL Under 14 Premier side made it a cup double tonight over Cherry Orchard when coming from behind to win 3.2 in the final of the DDSL Thunder Cup in an exciting game that both sides brought the best out of one another in a final which deserved a better setting than an October Wednesday night in Abbotstown with an 8pm kick-off.
This result confirmed the SFAI Goodson Cup result earlier this year between the sides.
Despite controlling the first 15 minutes when two decent chances were spurned SKB found themselves a goal down in the 17th minute and Cherry Orchard bossed the rest of the first half.
Tactical and personel changes at half time saw the game shift back in their favour in the second half and two goals in three minutes early in the second half put a fairer reflection on the scoreboard - the second coming from a neat Evan Ferguson finish after an o g had brought the sides level and when Cian Kelly knocked home number three it looked all over but Cherry Orcgard rallied pulling one back with five minutes to go and with the referee adding another five minutes injury time it made for a nerve racking finish with one Cherry Orchard attack finishing with the ball hitting the crossbar and the rebound scrambled to safety.
All in all a well deserved win and congratulations to the squad and staff on a great season so far and also to Cherrtry Orchard who made it a game worthy of any final.
