Our 15's scored a 3-1 win in Phase 2 of the Airtricity Under 15 National League away to Finn Harps at the ground of Curragh FC in Killygordan this afternoon. A first half goal from Aaron Doran was pulled back in the second half by the hosts but two goals in the last 5 minutes from Mayo Animasehuna nd Opi Owolabi sets them up for the all important final game at home next Sunday to Limerick FC at Shanowen Road.
Our Under 17's were also in Donegal to play Finn Harps in their final group game in the Northern Section of the 17's league at Ballybofey and they kept their unbeaten record intact with a 5-0 win.
So far in this phase of the 15's league SKB/BOHS have drawn with Finn Harps and beaten Limerick and completed the double over Shamrock Rovers last Saturday night in Roadstone with another well deserved 1-0 win. The final game in this group is home to Limerick on the week ending October 7th.
Last Monday night our Under 15 Airtricity team played the first of their back to back fixtures against Shamrock Rovers in Phase 2 of the National Airtricity Under 15 League. This game attracted huge interest and the biggest crowd that has ever attended the St Aidan's all-weather facility was present to see a really tense encounter between two teams who would be fancied to ultimately win the competition.
The game lacked real quality but that was compensated by an absorbing contest that lived up to the intensity of derby games between these two Clubs at senior level.
Shamrock Rovers dictated the first 15-20 minutes where they had the lions share of possession with SKB/Bohs standing too far off them but when the home side gradually exerted more pressure on Rovers from the mid way point in the first half they were the dominant team for the rest of the game with the winning goal coming 15 minutes into the second half when Ope Owolabi swept in a low cross from the right from Sammy Ayoola which the Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper got a hand to but could not prevent it crossing the line. Rovers did mount a late rally and with the referee adding 7 minutes additional time it increased the tension as the clock ticked down but the home defence stood up to it and ensured that the three points were safe.
Both teams came through their respective Group games to qualify for the second phase which is a group of four teams - SKB/BOHS, Shamrock Rovers, Finn Harps and Limerick - battling for a place in the final stages - the semi-finals are down for decision on October 21st with the final on November 3rd.
