Congratulations to our Under 14 DDSL Premier players and management who on the biggest occasion of the year to date they produced by far their best performance of the season where their committment workrate and skilll proved way too much for Cherry Orchard who have had the better record in games between the sides of late.
On an evening perfect for football and before a large attendance they settled into the game quickly and dominated play for the majority of the first half except for a short period before half time when Cherry Orchard exerted some pressure but by that stage Sean Grehan had scored the opener pouncing on a lose ball in the penalty area following a freekick from Jamie Mullins and sidefooted it home.
The second half followed a similar pattern with SKB dominant but they had David Okagbue to that for a last gasp clearance when Glory Nzingo made a run through the entire defence and looked certain to score before the big No 2's intervention. Soon after Somtechi Agbale's persistance was rewarded when he charged down a clearance which made it 2-0, it was just reward for Somtochi who ran himself to a standstill and caused plenty of problems for the Cherry Orchard defence all evening.
Ben Curtis made it 3 when he converted a penalty following a foul on Evan Ferguson and Ferguson himself wrapped it it up two minutes from time with an excellent strike from a free kick from 25 yards.
So the second SFAI trophy of the season has been won and we look forward to next Sunday in Turners Cross in Cork when our 12's and 15's will be hoping to add further to the honours list.
The hard work skill and committment on display last Sunday in Galway and again tonight will again be needed as these titles are not easily won.
