The Club bounced back in style today following a recent series of Cup setbacks as we retained the SFAI Sketchers Troy Cup when our Under13 Premier side defeated Mervue United in Eamon Deacy Park and our Under 19 Leinster League team avenged a recent Leinster Under 19 Youth Cup defeat by beating Crumlin United 4-0 in the LSL Dunne Cup final.
The Under 13's by retaining the Troy Cup for the Club also made it two successive SFAI Cup wins for themselves as they won last years Under 12 National Cup which our current Under 12's will be hoping to retain in a fortnights time in the final in Turners Cross against Douglas Hall.
They were never in any danger of losing todays game in which they were in control of from the start but they failed to have anything to show on the scoreboard at half time. A more focussed second half display saw them score twice in the opening twelve minutes of the half through Jamie Murphy and Kevin Zeffi. Their momentum at that stage was halted when the game was stopped for a lenghty spell following a serios looking injury to Luke Browne which neccessitated him being removed from the pitch on a stretcher and subsequently brought to hospital for treatment for a knee injury.
The Under 19's also were never in danger of losing their final as they extracted maximun revenge for their defeat a fortnight ago at the hands of Crumlin United in the Leinster Under 19 Cup final as they comfortably won the Leinster Senior League Dunne Cup 4-0 at the Iveagh Grounds with goals from Mark O'Connor and a hat-trick from that goal machine Levi Boardman.
Thas been a non stop season for the Under 13's group of players and management who having played in the SKB Academy Cup they have also reached the final of the SFAI Regions Cup, are in the semi final of the DDSL Brady Cup while also challenging for DDSL Premier League honours. Some of this group are also involved in the DDSL squad who played in the Inter League series and the DDSL 75th anniversary tournament.
DDSL Cups are the main feature of this week's fixture list with our 14 Premier, 11A Sat, 15 Premier 1, 11A Sun, 11C1 Sun, 13.1 Sun, 13.4 Sun, 14.4 Sun and 14.5 Sun all involved in important Cup ties home and away - the first of these was on Friday night in St Aidans when the 14 Premier beat Ballyoulster 9-0 in the semi-final of the DDSL Thunder Cup
On the Airtricity League front our 15's made the long trip to Donegal on Saturday where they lost to Finn Harps 2-0 in Gweedore while the 17's are home on Monday at St Aidan's at 6.30pm against St Patricks Athletic.
