THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS FROM COLLEGE CORINTHIANS
Yesterday, St Kevin's Boys won a match on penalties against Corinthians of Cork, U12. Congratulations.
Your players, coaches and parents were a credit to St Kevin's soccer club. Firstly, when we arrived, parents of one of your players couldn't be more helpful. They wished us good luck in the match. They told us to enjoy it.
With three minutes left, we, Corinthians, were on the verge of victory. A goal up, it looked like we'd see it out. Your coaches were an absolute credit to St. Kevin's. They weren't giving out to your 11 year olds. They encouraged. They didn't turn on the referee. With two minutes left, you equalized. You went on to win on penalties. To me, though, when you really won was with three minutes left. Example to kids is massive. No wonder your players didn't turn to fouling. No wonder they didn't turn to complaining to the ref. Instead, they obviously follow the example of their coaches.
You may win the national cup, or not. To me, regardless, you won yesterday with three minutes left. All kids on both sides were winners. Weren't our parents marvellous to clap off our young lads in defeat? Maybe they, like your players, will have learned that there is a much more important result, in every match, than on the scoreboard.
We look forward, please God, to hosting St Kevin’s sometime in the future.
Best regards,
Joe Harte. College Corinthians.
