Two more SFAI Cup wins yesterday for our Under 11's in the SFAI Under 12's Skechers Cup and our Under 15's in the SFAI Skechers Evans Cup to add to wins on Saturday for our Under 12's, 13's and 14's which puts all of our remaining teams through to the last 16 of the National Cups.
With all of last year's Under 14 Premier DDSL squad who had reached the last 32 of the SFAI Under 15 Evans Cup having moved on in the closed season it was left to a mixture of Under 13 and 14 premier players to represent the Club in yesterday's Under 15 game against Drogheda Town.
Two goals up through Cian Kelly and Evan Ferguson they were pulled back to 2-2 before the break. Derrin Adawele made it 3-2 but again Drogheda came back to equalize but two Jamie Murphy penalties in the last fifteen minutes secured a 5-3 win which was a tremendous achievement for this group of players who all had tough away SFAI Cup games on Saturday with long distance travel involved and were giving away advantage in size and up to two years in age in some cases to their oppponents so it was a testament to their resilience and abilities that they came through in great style.
College Corinthians Under 12 were the oppostition for our Under 11A team in the SFAI Under 12 Skechers Cup in the first game played yesterday at Shanowen Road. In a game of few chances it was tight all the way through but Corinthians seemed to have taken the chance that mattered ten minutes into the second half when they went ahead and could have wrapped it up five minutes later when their centre forward having rounded goalkeeper Theo Hennessy struck the post with the goal at his mercy. Relieved by that let off the home side dominated the remainder of the game and fully deserved their equalizer four minutes from time when Cathal Hickey scored from close range, extra time failed to produce further goals and with Theo Hennessy saving 2 of the Corinthians penalties in the shoot out and four excellent spot kicks converted they were through to the last 16 - again a great achievement from the team who are playing a year above their age.
The 15's and the 11's will be joined by the 14 DDSL premier who despite going a goal down away to Westport United came back strongly to win 3-1.
The result of the 13 premier game away to Aisling Annacotty was never really in doubt having gone 4-0 up early in the first half they finished 8-0 winners.
Two second half goals from Logan Preston and were enough for our Under 12 DDSL premier to overcome Bridge United on Saturday in Goresbridge.
The last 16 draw throws up the following games:
