The 2017 season ended tragically last night when Shelbourne player Izzy Dezu collapsed early in the second half of our Under 16 DDSL Premier League play-off game in the AUL Complex.
In scenes tragically similiar to the passing of Belvedere player Shetemi (Shay) Ayetigbo in a similiar end of season Under 16 play-off game two years ago at Shanowen Road, Izzy collapsed early in the second half and the reaction of players closest to him indicated that the situation was extremely serious - he was immediately attended to by staff from both teams and CPR was administered by an off duty DFB member and a defibilator was used prior to the arrival of three units of the emergency services and despite their efforts and his subsequent removal to hospital his passing was confirmed a short time later.
All those present were extremely shocked by what happened especially his team mates, his managers as well as the SKB players and staff.
Everyone at St Kevin's Boys Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Izzy's family and friends as well as Shelbourne F C
May he rest in peace.
