SKB's Kian Clarke was a deserving winner of the goalkeeper of the tournament award following four fine displays during the course of the tournament beating off his main rival from Real Sociedad who made a couple of excellent saves in the game against SKB to keep his side ahead.
Well deserved Kian and all of the squad who were praised all round for their performances by all of their opponents and the tournament organisers both on and off the pitch and the organisers were delighted that their decision to invite a team from outside of Spain for the first time to the tournament in it's 25 year history was fully justified.
Real Madrid emerged as winners of the tournament with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Real Sociedad overturning the group game result between the teams which Sociedad won 2-0.
Barcelona finished third beating Ossasuna 3-0 in a one sided game.
After yesterday's two tough group games against Real Madrid (1-3) and Real Sociadad (0-1) our 16 Premier squad today faced Celta Vigo in the first of the three way play offs to determine 7th 8th and 9th positions and a Keith Carter volley settled the issue in the 20h minute in what was an excellent performance allround.
The second game against Ribera ended in stalemate 0-0 but in the three penalty shootout Kian Clarke saved one and then blasted home the winner (2-1) to ensure 7th place in this top class tournament.
The semi finals resulted in Real Sociadad beating Osasuna 3-0 while Barcelona having gone behind to Real Madrid were soon 2-1 up but but conceded two second half goals to go down 3-2 in a game played at a cracking tempo from start to finish on a very sticky pitch. And so the final tomorrow will feature two teams from the three in SKB's group.
5th and 6th place play off finished 1-1 but Real Zaragoza lost the penalty shootout to Athletico Bilbao.
After Ross Tierney opened the scoring Real Madrid came back with a want to win attitude and with two goals in two minutes just before half time they never left a way back for SKB. Final score Real Madrid 3 SKB 1
