Congratulations to our former defender Jamie Egan who has just signed his first professional contract at Bristol Rovers who last week gained automatic promotion from League 2 of the English Football League.
Manager Joey Barton made the following announcement on the Club's website:
Bristol Rovers are delighted to announce that two exciting Academy graduates have signed professional contracts with the club.
Forward Harvey Greenslade and defender Jamie Egan, both 18, have put pen to paper and are already looking forward to making an impression and breaking into the Gas first team.
Greenslade was invited to train with Joey Barton's squad in the final few weeks of the campaign, whilst Irish defender Egan has spent time out on loan at Hereford.
Byron Anthony, Head of Academy Coaching, said of Jamie - “Jamie’s arrived at the football club later than some of the other players in the Academy but this did not faze him. He has shown great character and commitment to developing as a player and worked extremely hard since arriving. He has impressed this season whilst being out on loan at Hereford."
Jamie said: "It's a dream come true. Now it's about pushing on and I can't wait to play in front of the Gasheads at The Mem. Being out on loan has shown me that I have adapted to men's football and I can't wait to get started."
