Despite being the better side for long periods of the game our Under 15 Airtricity team could not find a way to pull back the concession of an early goal in the first half at home to Shamrock Rovers at Shanowen Road this afternoon.
In front of the largest crowd of the season who were treated to an exciting game from start to finish it was Rovers who began best and they went ahead in the tenth minute when Shane Nealon got himself free to score with a header from a corner.
SKB were largely dominant for the rest of the game but couldn't find a way to break down a resolute Rovers defence in which captain Alex Dunne was outstanding. Roland Banya for Rovers and Jamie Farrell for SKB both saw superb strikes come back off the crossbar in the second half but that was the closest either side came to adding to the scoreline but the action was non-stop right up to the final whistle.
