It's not often that Irish schoolboy players get to face Brazil in an International game but tomorrow at the AUL Complex SKB's Paddy Moore is included in the Republic of Ireland Under-16 panel for a friendly against Brazil’s Under-15s at 3pm.
Paddy was in the panel last week for two internationals in Romania and Irish head coach Paul Osam believes his side can really learn a lot from facing completely different opposition to what they’re used to facing.
“It’s a great opportunity for the lads, We probably don’t play against teams that play the way South Americans do that often,” he said.
“Maybe these players haven’t played a South American side before. It is a different style of play but its important that our players realise that while a side like Brazil will have strengths they will also have some weaknesses.
“Our players learned a lot in Romania. That was good preparation for a game like this. Romania play a possession-based game with a lot of movement.
“Overall it’ll be a big opportunity for the lads. We improved a lot in the second fixture last week so as the year progresses games like this will be very beneficial to their development,” he added.
Osam is in Nyon continuing his UEFA Pro Licence so Ireland U15 Head Coach Jason Donohue will take charge of the Irish team tomorrow.
