Two superb performances today by our Under 12 and 14 DDSL Premier teams saw us win two SFAI Regional Cups titles at a wet and windy Abbotstown.
Despite having plenty of chances to go ahead against Shamrock Rovers in the Under 12 final we found ourselves a goal down against the run of play with the Rovers goalkeeper making some excellent saves to keep his side in it. Daniel Bergin's introduction at half sparked added life to the attack as he helped himself to second half goals with Luke Browne getting a third for a fully deserved 3-1 win.
The 14's game looked like it might produce a close tie following the sides earlier meeting a few weeks ago in the SFAI Cup which resulted in a 3-2 win for SKB away in Elmdale but from the start today there always looked like that there would only be one winner as SKB produced their best all round performance of the season to win 5-0 in a game that they dominated - Cronan Noonan(2) Roland Banya, Aaron Doran and Colin Conroy scored the goals.
Athlone Town provided the opposition in the 16's SFAI Regions Cup final at Abbotstown in a repeat of last seasons SFAI Under 15 Evans Cup final but this time the result (1-2) was reversed as Athlone were the hungrier team throughout and deserved their win as SKB produced a very disappointing performance that was way off what was needed to win the game.
Our 17 DDSL Premier team played Edenderry Town in St Aidan's in the quarter final of the Leinster Youth Cup and they produced an excellent second half performance scoring three times to reach the semifinal on a 4-1 scoreline.
